3 out of 5 stars Somewhat disappointed but nevertheless satisfied 06/29/2008
Reviewer: Christine   from Washington, DC Metro Area
I purchased the 820HD just knowing I would be able to pick up a favorite smooth jazz station, located in Washington, DC which went off the air a couple of months ago. (This radio was one of their picks in order that their fans could listen to the station again.) The radio does not pick up the smooth jazz station, and I am disappointed. However, I am able to pick up some other HD stations in Washington, DC. For a HD radio, I do not like the antennas. I would like not to have the sightly FM dipole antenna. This antenna does not fit firmly into place, and I am disappointed about that. The dipole is suppose to give best overall reception, but my HD stations still go in and out. I called the smooth jazz station which went off the air (now broadcasting on the internet). They had no suggestions. I still have to listen to them online. If I had known the radio would not pick up my favorite smooth jazz station, I would not have bought it. I've decided to not return the radio. I am hoping that one day soon I will be able to pick up my favorite smooth jazz station here in Washington, DC. If anyone out there has any suggestions, please let me know.

5 out of 5 stars A great HD Radio 05/19/2008
Reviewer: Ralph C   from New Jersey, USA
This is a great HD Radio, especially if you live in a strong signal area, the dipole antenna is the best solution if you don't, I love the sound and the HD stations sound great too. I bought the Onyx one, but I wish the remote was onyx too. Other wise this is good Radio.

5 out of 5 stars For the price it can't be beat 05/07/2008
Reviewer: A viewer   from California
This HD radio is great for the price. For $199.00 you can't beat the sound the comes out of this radio. Yes, HD reception can be tricky in some locations (if you are more than 20-30 miles for the transmitter, etc) but the quality is great, especially AM-HD stations. This radio is well worth the $199.00!

2 out of 5 stars Needs version 2.0 03/28/2008
Reviewer: A viewer   from Minneapolis, MN
I replaced my 730 with this radio. The 730 is an excellent radio and sounds superb. The 820HD has a smaller sound to it and lacks the dynamics of the 730. Still, the 820HD is a decent sounding radio. Operationally the 820HD needs to go back to the drawing board. The alarm can only be set when the unit is turned on, a bad thing when someone is sleeping. Setting the alarm and clock are also complicated. The HD part of the tuner also has issues. I've seen the 820HD get stuck on stations when the HD signal is flipping off and on. I've also had the unit crash on HD AM -- no sound until I restarted the radio. Cambridge is a good company, this model just needs some re-engineering.

3 out of 5 stars Nice, but with a few problems 02/05/2008
Reviewer: A viewer   from La Canada, CA US
The sound of stations with strong signals is fantastic. But reception of some HD signals is not as good as I would like. And when signal on a second channel if lost, I hear analog version of main channel - Not good when classical suddenly turns into country. Setting alarm is more complex than it needs to be. And screen light is pretty bright at night for a bedside radio
