Wouldn't you love to have the "ultimate music system?"… an audiophile's
dream-come-true, where you can pipe your favorite music throughout
your house, and even your yard, with ease? Having great music in
your kitchen makes cooking much more fun. A good sound system in
the dining room can make a meal much more enjoyable. And once you
have had a backyard barbecue with Beethoven, you will never go back
to silent grilling. If you already have a good component stereo
or home theater system, adding music to other rooms is pretty simple.
Multi-room audio is perhaps the hottest trend in home audio right
now. And at Cambridge SoundWorks, we offer products and services
that can make your dream a reality.
Multi-room
Capable Receivers
Many of today's receivers have a second set of main speaker
outputs, or "B" speaker outputs. This allows you to pipe music from
your living room into, say, the dining room. If your receiver is
equipped with a second set of speaker outputs, you simply need a
long line of speaker cable that connects to the speakers in the
secondary room. This is a very simple solution.
Speaker Selectors
Some receivers, however, aren't equipped with multiple speaker outputs.
Don't worry - you're not out of the game. Simply purchase a speaker
selector (also known as a switch box) and you can now connect several
pairs of speakers to your receiver.
A-BUS
A-BUS is a distribution system that was developed to simplify multi-room
interactivity. Designate a central receiver or amplifier as your
A-BUS "distribution hub," add speakers to your rooms of choice,
and install an A-BUS in-wall volume control in each room you want
to add music. This allows you to distribute music to as many rooms
as you choose, and it is infinitely expandable. The benefit of an
A-BUS system is in the way the rooms are wired. By using a single
run of cable between the system hub and each control, you avoid
signal loss and interference… often the result of running speaker
cable from room to room.
Wireless
If you pride yourself on being somewhat tech-savvy, consider a wireless
system. A wireless system can make it easy to listen to your PC
music collection in the living room, bedroom, or any other room
where you want to enjoy music, over your existing 802.11b or 802.11g
wireless network (this means that you must have a wireless network
which includes a router, hub and wireless PC card. Please call 1-800-367-4434
if you are unsure). The Creative
Sound Blaster® Wireless Music's wireless receiver connects
to any audio system, so you can listen to your music on your Home
Entertainment system or with any powered speakers. And Sound Blaster
Wireless Music is designed to be easier to set up than other solutions,
detecting your existing wireless network and either connecting automatically
or with a simple USB setup.
Speaker Options
- Multi-Room Audio Packages
Our SoundExtender™ Systems make it easy for you to add music to
any room in your home. They provide everything you need - even
if your current receiver doesn't have connections for a second
set of speakers. Each system combines a high quality Russound
speaker selector with a pair of Cambridge SoundWorks In-Wall,
In-Ceiling or Outdoor speakers and 250 feet of UL-approved CL-3
speaker cable from Monster Cable. You can even add more speakers
for use in other rooms.
- Bracket-Mountable "On-Wall"
Speakers
Okay, maybe you are currently renting an apartment and installing
In-Walls or In-Ceilings just isn't an option. Don't fret… mounting
smaller Satellite or Surround speakers to your walls with brackets
actually gives you an advantage - you can swivel a speaker in
the bracket and direct the sound where you want to.
- Floor-Standing Speakers
A multi-room system isn't necessarily about choosing the least-conspicuous
speakers possible. With some models featuring beautiful real-wood
Blonde Maple or Mahogany veneers, many people actually choose
our high-performance Floor-standing speakers to complement their
décor. If the thought of wires snaking across your room makes
you hesitate, consider wall jacks, which can provide neat connections
to wires concealed inside your walls.
