ANDOVER, MA - October 13, 2004 - Local audio/video.
manufacturer and retailer, Cambridge SoundWorks®, predicts that many consumers will have a
difficult time navigating through the countless new technologies available this holiday season.
From high definition televisions (HDTV), digital radios to MP3 players and more, many consumers
are confused about this new gear. Cambridge SoundWorks, which operates retail locations throughout
New England and the San Francisco Bay area, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Creative Technology Ltd
(Nasdaq: CREAF).
"The truth of the matter is that while today's consumer electronics let us experience entertainment in ways we've never done before, the countless new formats and product offerings can make the buying process overwhelming," says Rob Mainiero, vice president of Cambridge SoundWorks. "Cambridge SoundWorks demystifies the shopping process for our customers. Our experienced sales force works with our customers from start to finish - from providing tutorials on the latest technologies like HDTV, going into homes and analyzing their specific needs, to professional installation of their systems."
HD University: HDTV 101
According to Mainiero, one of the most frequently asked question from customers entering Cambridge SoundWorks' retail stores today is "What is HDTV?" To assist them with understanding the new broadcast format, the company has launched HD University, an in-store educational program free to all customers. Scheduled sessions run each Saturday and cover the basics of HDTV - from a general definition of the format to an overview of the new TV technologies available.
