New Speaker System Turns Dad into Digital DJ
Cambridge SoundWorks PlayDock PD200 and NOMAD Jukebox Creates Full-Sound, Digital Stereo System
NEWTON, MA - Until now, MP3 music players have been designed
for personal use and not for people looking for room-filling sound. The
Cambridge SoundWorks' PlayDock? PD200 changes all that. It is one of the
first stereo loudspeakers created for an MP3 player. Combined with the
Creative NOMAD® Jukebox, the PlayDock lets music buffs hear music from
an MP3 library on a great-sounding stereo system, one that can be placed
in the living room, bedroom, backyard and beyond. The PlayDock PD200 retails
for $199.99.
"When first introduced, MP3 players were either PC-centric or like a
Walkman, for single use. If consumers wanted big sound, there were few
options available," said Tom Hannaher, vice president of merchandise,
Cambridge SoundWorks and cambridgesoundworks.com. "The PlayDock and NOMAD Jukebox create
a portable, group-oriented sound system that offers high-quality sound
and stores over 100 CDs worth of music."
The NOMAD Jukebox attaches to the PlayDock by a secure "glove" on the
top of the speaker and can be carried from one location to another. "Because
the PlayDock PD200 houses three speakers - left and right main speakers
plus a built-in mini subwoofer, the sound quality of this stereo system
is excellent," notes Hannaher. With the NOMAD Jukebox in place, the rechargeable
battery housed inside the PlayDock offers approximately ten hours of completely
portable music playtime.
Consumers can purchase the Cambridge SoundWorks PlayDock PD200 at cambridgesoundworks.com,
by calling 1-800-FOR-HIFI , or at Cambridge SoundWorks retail locations.
